P3 engine

Postby Doug A » Thu Jan 31, 2019 9:14 pm

Can a Suzuki gs 750 es 1983 engine be used in P3 middle? Same bore/stroke as 82, double cams 16 valves air cooled. Let me know, thanks.
When in doubt, GAS IT!!!!!

The way I read the rules you’re good. Period likeness? Check! No other restrictions on engines if it fits the class structure

Hello Doug,

You should forward your request to the VRRA Tech Chair Mike Vinten.

He can provide you an answer.

It appears that DOHC 4-valve started in 1980 for those. The next development after that was GSXR in 1985, which was a total redesign.

The Tech committee reviewed this request and unanimously agreed that the 1983 engine is not acceptable in Period 3. It was changed in many areas from 1982, and ended up smaller and over 25 pounds lighter.
